Fetterman hospitalized for treatment of depression - Roll Call

What You May Have Missed

Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) has checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for clinical depression, which his chief of staff says “became severe in recent weeks.”

Top Democrats are quietly concerned about President Biden’s age, but fear Vice President Harris cannot win in 2024. Biden’s annual physical today will just draw more attention to his age.

Don Bolduc, last year’s GOP Senate nominee in New Hampshire, is endorsing Nikki Haley for president, a big endorsement in the leadoff primary state. But is there any room for Haley in the modern GOP?

Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY), who was endorsed by Donald Trump in her successful primary challenge to then-Rep. Liz Cheney, has now endorsed Trump for 2024.

Mike Pence is hoping he can claim the mantle of culture warrior in the GOP presidential field, but the Koch network is just not that into him.

Possible DeSantis supporters include Kayleigh McEnany and God, but not Sarah Palin.

Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) says a crowded GOP field will result in Trump’s nomination, as it did in 2016. A Quinnipiac poll may back that up: Trump leads DeSantis by just two points if only Haley and Pence are also in the race, but leads by six in a more crowded contest.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) says “a lot of senators…would be very interested in running” for president if Trump was not in the race.

As expected, Rep. Barbara Lee will run for Senate in California, joining her House colleagues Reps. Katie Porter and Adam Schiff in an open-seat race.

Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ) leads early Arizona Senate matchups in a new poll, regardless of the GOP candidate or whether Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) seeks a second term.

Just months after the Southwest Airlines Christmas meltdown, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is again facing criticism from both parties over DOT’s response to the Ohio train derailment.

The reference I made to a woman’s “prime” this morning was inartful and irrelevant, as colleagues and loved ones have pointed out, and I regret it. A woman’s age doesn't define her either personally or professionally. I have countless women in my life who prove that every day.

John Fetterman isn't the first Senator to suffer from depression. But he's probably the first to publicly acknowledge he's getting treatment for it.
