Welcome to Politics Extra, an end-of-day news briefing from Political Wire.

Former President Trump Remarks at CPAC 2023 | C-SPAN.org

What You May Have Missed

Virginia has gone Democratic in every presidential election since 2008, but a new poll shows Gov. Glenn Youngkin beating President Biden in the state by 16 points if he is the 2024 GOP presidential nominee. Ron DeSantis leads Biden by five points in Virginia, but Biden holds a one-point lead over Donald Trump.

House Republicans are reticent to offer Trump early endorsements, but Trump still commands the GOP race and the hearts of many Republicans. And he might not actually need a large primary field to win the nomination.

Trump has refused to promise to support the GOP nominee next year — but Nikki Haley says she will.

Democrats are unusually open to nominating someone other than Biden next year — but who?

The Justice Department has determined that Trump can be sued by police officers over physical and psychological injuries they suffered during the January 6 Capitol riot.

The House Ethics Committee is investigating Rep. George Santos (R-NY), while the chamber’s Ethics Office says Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) may have accepted impermissible gifts in 2021.

Democrats will need 270 electoral votes to win in 2024, but Republicans might only need 269.

I'm telling you...this guy has a glass jaw. He chickened out of facing Trump at CPAC because his carefully curated tough-guy schtick can't take a hit.

1. I’ve been saying this for the longest underestimate Biden at your own peril. 2. Rick Wilson is right about that “Glass Jaw”. 3. Kelly Anne shouldn’t saying anything about lies. 4. Jimmy Carter deserves better. 5. Get off this Ayn Rand nonsense &/or scrap the debt ceiling & implement responsible tax policies & go after tax cheats. Oh & it would be nice if the press call lying racist politicians & media figures for what they are with out the fear of being called woke by people that’ll emulate the bigots of the 60s but can’t take the heat.
